Dustin ChambersUpon graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1994 with a degree in Instrumental Music Education, Dustin taught for the Collinsville School District in Oklahoma until 1999. During his four-year tenure, he was the percussion arranger/director for the band program. Under Dustin’s direction the drumline received the final High Percussion award in 1994 at the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association State Marching Contest. From 1994 to 2003 Collinsville has been the Okla. Bandmasters Assoc. State Marching Contest Grand Champions Class A-3A. In 1999 Dustin accepted the Director of Percussion Studies for the Van Buren School District in Arkansas. His drumline has captured two grand champion drumline honors at the Arkansas Open contest, and best drumline award Class 5A at Siloam Springs Invitational Marching Classic. The high school percussion ensemble accepted an invitation to perform at the Arkansas Day of Percussion at the Univ. of Arkansas, where Dustin also gave a master class on Marching Percussion Arranging and Composition. Some 15 percussion students of his have gone on to make All-State, one of which was first chair All-State Jazz Band. From 1999 to 2001 Dustin served as adjunct music faculty at The University of Arkansas Fort Smith, formerly Westark Community College. Dustin serves as a percussion judge for various marching band competitions in Arkansas, and presents marching percussion clinics for several small schools in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He is the drum set player for the First Baptist Church Van Buren, occasionally performs with the Fort Smith Symphony, Fort Smith Chorale, and the River Valley Community Band. He resides in Van Buren with his wife and two children. Dustin is a professional member of the Percussive Arts Society, a member of the Vic Firth Education Team, an endorser of Dynasty Drums and Evans Drumheads.
Ed ChoiConcert Percussion, Marching Percussion, Marimba, Vibes, Auxilary Percussion Ed Choi is a percussionist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in Korea. He is currently completing his DMA and has studied with Alan Abel, She-e Wu, Michael Burritt and Russell Hartenberger. Ed also marched in the Boston Crusaders and Star of Indiana's Brass Theater production. Ed endorses Dynasty, Sabian and Malletech. Mike Coers is an Independent musician from Chicago, Il. He is currently advisor for the 2007 - 2008 WGI PIA Champion Pioneer indoor drumline, and the former director of the 1994, 1995 WGI Scholastic AA champion Lincoln – Way Drumline. Mike also served as director of Percussion at Marian Catholic from 2000 – 2007. He has recorded in Nashville and Chicago and has numerous arranging and performance credits and clinic appearances throughout the US. Mike has been active judging winter percussion activites for the Gulfcoast, Indiana, and Rocky Mountain, and Louisiana circuits. Rene ConwayRene holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University, and was the Graduate Assistant and Marching Percussion Instructor for the University of Houston Cougar Marching Band. Rene's experience as a Marching Band and Percussion Instructor in the United States includes working with such groups as The Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps (1984), The United States Olympic Festival Marching Band (1986), and many High School and University groups. In 1991, Rene moved to Indonesia to work as the Percussion Instructor for Marching Band Sampoerna. In 1993, Rene moved to Bontang, East Kalimantan to serve as the Director of Marching Band Pupuk Kaltim. In 1994, Marching Band Pupuk Kaltim became the first band from outside of Jakarta to win the National Championships and they have held this top honor every year since then. Marching Band Pupuk Kaltim was recently awarded two of the highest honors in the International Marching Band Activity when an International Committee of University Music Professors and High School Band Directors in conjunction with the World Association of Marching Show Bands (WAMSB) selected it as the 1998 winner of the Sudler Shield Award and Band of the Year for 2001. Rene is the Southeast Asian Representative and Clinician for Dynasty Percussion Instruments, and has conducted numerous Workshops and Clinics throughout Indonesia and Malaysia. |
